Privacy Policy App

Short version: Growdy stores your grow diary – plants, photos, notes – locally on your device. We do not sell or share your personal data. Anonymous usage and crash statistics (Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics) are only collected if you explicitly opt in, and can be turned off again at any time.

Data you enter (stored locally only)
All data you enter in Growdy – plant names, watering logs, grow notes, photos, fertilizer schedules – is stored exclusively on your device using local storage (Hive). This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers or any third party (except in-app feedback you choose to send – see below).

Camera and photo library
Growdy requests access to your camera and photo library only when you actively choose to add a photo to an entry. Photos are stored locally on your device only. We do not upload photos to any server.
Push notifications
Growdy uses local notifications (scheduled on your device) to remind you to water your plants. These notifications are processed entirely on your device. No notification data is transmitted externally.
Firebase Remote Config
Growdy uses Firebase Remote Config (by Google) to manage app configuration such as minimum required app versions and maintenance windows. When the app starts, it sends an anonymous request containing only your app version number to Firebase servers. No personal data, no device identifiers, and no usage data are transmitted through this service.
Firebase Analytics (App)
Growdy uses Google Analytics for Firebase (Firebase Analytics), provided by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) and Google LLC, in the mobile app (iOS and Android). The service is used to analyse app usage in an anonymous, aggregated way so that we can improve the app – for example which features are used, which parts of the app people visit, and the rough country-level origin of usage.
Data processed: a pseudonymous app instance ID (device identifier), interaction and usage data (screens visited, triggered events such as creating a grow), device and operating-system information, app version, and approximate geographic origin at country/region level derived from an anonymised IP address. No advertising ID (IDFA/GAID) is used and no cross-device advertising tracking takes place.
Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Analytics is disabled by default and is only activated after you explicitly agree on first launch. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future in the app settings (Menu → Settings → "Anonymous usage statistics").
Transfer to the USA: Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; in addition, EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 GDPR) serve as the basis for transfers to third countries. IP addresses are only processed in truncated/anonymised form – full IP addresses are not stored. User- and event-related data is retained for a maximum of 14 months. A data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) is in place with Google.
Firebase Crashlytics (App)
Growdy uses Firebase Crashlytics, also provided by Google (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC), in the mobile app to detect, diagnose and fix crashes and technical errors so we can improve stability.
Data processed: crash reports (stack traces), diagnostic and state data at the time of the crash (device type, operating-system version, app version, memory and state information) and a pseudonymous installation/instance ID. No personal content data (no notes, photos, weights or similar) is transmitted.
Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Crashlytics is tied to the same consent as Firebase Analytics – it is disabled by default, only becomes active after you agree, and can be withdrawn together via the same toggle in the app settings. Transfer to the USA (EU-US Data Privacy Framework plus Standard Contractual Clauses), retention (max. 14 months) and the data processing agreement with Google apply in the same way as for Firebase Analytics.
In-app feedback (voluntary)
Via the "Give feedback" menu item you can voluntarily send us feedback about the app. When you do, we transmit and store: your star rating (1–5), your answers to the multiple-choice questions (e.g. which features you use or miss), your optional free-text note, and accompanying technical data (app version, platform iOS/Android, selected app language, and whether a Plus subscription is active – yes/no).
The submission contains no account, device, or user identifier. We cannot attribute your feedback to any person. Please therefore do not include personal data (such as your name or email address) in the free-text field.
Feedback is stored in Google Cloud Firestore (Firebase), operated by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland; the storage location is the Frankfurt region (europe-west3). The legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving the app (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); participation is entirely voluntary. As the data is collected anonymously, we cannot attribute individual submissions to a person afterwards and therefore cannot selectively delete them (Art. 11 GDPR). Feedback data is deleted after 24 months at the latest.

- No user accounts or registration data
- No location data (only rough country-level origin via Firebase Analytics, if you opt in)
- No usage analytics or tracking without your explicit consent (see Firebase Analytics above) – except the in-app feedback you send voluntarily (see above)
- No advertising identifiers (no IDFA/GAID)
- No payment data
- No data is sold to third parties
4. Third-party services
Firebase (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC)
We use Firebase Remote Config to manage app configuration (Google may process anonymous technical data such as app version and platform), as well as Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, which are only active with your explicit consent (see section 2). We also use Cloud Firestore to store the voluntary in-app feedback (see section 2); the storage location is the Frankfurt region (europe-west3). Transfers to the USA are based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and EU Standard Contractual Clauses. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Data retention
All app data is stored on your device and remains under your control. You can delete all app data at any time by uninstalling the app. Data collected through Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (if you opted in) is retained by Google for a maximum of 14 months and is then deleted automatically. Feedback you send voluntarily via the in-app feedback form is stored anonymously in Cloud Firestore and deleted after 24 months at the latest.
6. Data deletion request
How to request deletion of your data: To request deletion of the analytics and crash data collected through the app (your pseudonymous Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data), send an email with the subject "Data deletion" to hello@growdy.app. We will arrange for the corresponding data to be deleted.
Which data this concerns: the pseudonymous usage and crash data processed by Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. This data is retained for a maximum of 14 months and is then deleted automatically.
Content you create in the app (grows, plants, photos, notes) is stored only locally on your device. You can delete it directly in the app at any time, or remove all of it by uninstalling the app – it is never transmitted to us.
Feedback you send via the in-app feedback form is stored anonymously, without any account, device or user identifier. We therefore cannot attribute individual submissions to you and cannot delete them selectively (Art. 11 GDPR). Feedback data is deleted after 24 months at the latest.
You can withdraw your consent to Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics at any time with effect for the future via the app settings (Menu → Settings → "Anonymous usage statistics"), which stops any further collection.
7. Your rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Union, you have the following rights regarding any personal data we process:

Since virtually all data is stored locally on your device, most of these rights can be exercised directly by you through the app or by uninstalling it. 8. Children's privacy
Growdy is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

Anonyme Nutzungs- und Absturzstatistiken (Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics) werden nur erhoben, wenn du ausdrücklich zustimmst, und lassen sich jederzeit wieder abschalten.

Alle Daten, die du in Growdy eingibst – Pflanzennamen, Gießprotokolle, Grow-Notizen, Fotos, Düngepläne – werden ausschließlich auf deinem Gerät im lokalen Speicher (Hive) gespeichert. Diese Daten verlassen dein Gerät nicht und werden nicht an unsere Server oder Dritte übermittelt (außer In-App-Feedback, das du freiwillig sendest – siehe unten).

Kamera und Fotobibliothek
Growdy fordert Zugriff auf Kamera und Fotobibliothek nur dann an, wenn du aktiv ein Foto zu einem Eintrag hinzufügen möchtest. Fotos werden ausschließlich lokal auf deinem Gerät gespeichert. Wir laden keine Fotos auf Server hoch.
Push-Benachrichtigungen
Growdy verwendet lokale Benachrichtigungen (auf deinem Gerät geplant), um dich an das Gießen deiner Pflanzen zu erinnern. Diese Benachrichtigungen werden vollständig auf deinem Gerät verarbeitet. Es werden keine Benachrichtigungsdaten nach außen übermittelt.
Firebase Remote Config
Growdy verwendet Firebase Remote Config (von Google), um die App-Konfiguration zu verwalten, z. B. Mindest-App-Versionen und Wartungsfenster. Beim App-Start sendet die App eine anonyme Anfrage, die ausschließlich deine App-Versionsnummer enthält, an Firebase-Server. Es werden keine personenbezogenen Daten, Geräte-IDs oder Nutzungsdaten über diesen Dienst übertragen.
Firebase Analytics (App)
Growdy verwendet in der mobilen App (iOS und Android) Google Analytics for Firebase (Firebase Analytics), angeboten von Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Irland) und Google LLC. Der Dienst dient der anonymen, aggregierten Analyse der App-Nutzung, damit wir die App verbessern können – z. B. welche Funktionen genutzt werden, welche App-Bereiche aufgerufen werden und die grobe Herkunft der Nutzung auf Länderebene.
Verarbeitete Daten: eine pseudonyme App-Instance-ID (Geräte-Identifier), Interaktions- und Nutzungsdaten (aufgerufene Bereiche, ausgelöste Ereignisse wie das Anlegen eines Grows), Geräte- und Betriebssystem-Informationen, App-Version sowie die grobe geografische Herkunft auf Länder-/Regionsebene, abgeleitet aus einer anonymisierten IP-Adresse. Es wird keine Werbe-ID (IDFA/GAID) verwendet und es findet kein geräteübergreifendes Werbe-Tracking statt.
Rechtsgrundlage: deine Einwilligung (Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO). Analytics ist standardmäßig deaktiviert und wird erst nach deiner ausdrücklichen Zustimmung beim ersten Start aktiviert. Du kannst deine Einwilligung jederzeit mit Wirkung für die Zukunft in den App-Einstellungen widerrufen (Menü → Einstellungen → „Anonyme Nutzungsstatistik").
Datenübermittlung in die USA: Google ist unter dem EU-US Data Privacy Framework zertifiziert; ergänzend dienen EU-Standardvertragsklauseln (Art. 46 DSGVO) als Grundlage für Drittlandübermittlungen. IP-Adressen werden ausschließlich gekürzt/anonymisiert verarbeitet – vollständige IP-Adressen werden nicht gespeichert. Nutzer- und ereignisbezogene Daten werden für maximal 14 Monate gespeichert. Mit Google besteht ein Auftragsverarbeitungsvertrag (Art. 28 DSGVO).
Firebase Crashlytics (App)
Growdy verwendet in der mobilen App Firebase Crashlytics, ebenfalls angeboten von Google (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC), um Abstürze und technische Fehler zu erkennen, zu diagnostizieren und zu beheben und so die Stabilität zu verbessern.
Verarbeitete Daten: Absturzberichte (Stacktraces), Diagnose- und Zustandsdaten zum Zeitpunkt des Absturzes (Gerätetyp, Betriebssystemversion, App-Version, Speicher- und Zustandsinformationen) sowie eine pseudonyme Installations-/Instance-ID. Es werden keine personenbezogenen Inhaltsdaten (keine Notizen, Fotos, Gewichte o. ä.) übertragen.
Rechtsgrundlage: deine Einwilligung (Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO). Crashlytics ist an dieselbe Zustimmung wie Firebase Analytics gekoppelt – es ist standardmäßig deaktiviert, wird erst nach deiner Zustimmung aktiv und kann gemeinsam über denselben Schalter in den App-Einstellungen widerrufen werden. Datenübermittlung in die USA (EU-US Data Privacy Framework sowie Standardvertragsklauseln), Speicherdauer (max. 14 Monate) und der Auftragsverarbeitungsvertrag mit Google gelten entsprechend wie bei Firebase Analytics.
In-App-Feedback (freiwillig)
Über den Menüpunkt „Feedback geben" kannst du uns freiwillig Feedback zur App senden. Dabei übermitteln und speichern wir: deine Sternebewertung (1–5), deine Antworten auf die Auswahlfragen (z. B. welche Funktionen du nutzt oder vermisst), deinen optionalen Freitext sowie technische Begleitdaten (App-Version, Plattform iOS/Android, eingestellte App-Sprache und ob ein Plus-Abo aktiv ist – ja/nein).
Die Übermittlung erfolgt ohne Konto-, Geräte- oder Nutzerkennung. Wir können dein Feedback keiner Person zuordnen. Bitte gib deshalb im Freitextfeld keine personenbezogenen Daten (z. B. Name oder E-Mail-Adresse) an.
Gespeichert wird das Feedback in Google Cloud Firestore (Firebase), betrieben von Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Irland; Speicherort ist die Region Frankfurt (europe-west3). Firebase (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC)
Wir nutzen Firebase Remote Config zur App-Konfiguration (Google kann dabei anonyme technische Daten wie App-Version und Plattform verarbeiten) sowie Firebase Analytics und Firebase Crashlytics, die nur mit deiner ausdrücklichen Einwilligung aktiv sind (siehe Abschnitt 2). Darüber hinaus nutzen wir Cloud Firestore zur Speicherung des freiwilligen In-App-Feedbacks (siehe Abschnitt 2); Speicherort ist die Region Frankfurt (europe-west3). Übermittlungen in die USA stützen sich auf das EU-US Data Privacy Framework und EU-Standardvertragsklauseln. Weitere Informationen findest du in der Datenschutzerklärung von Google.
5. Datenspeicherung und -löschung
Alle App-Daten werden auf deinem Gerät gespeichert und liegen in deiner Kontrolle. Du kannst alle App-Daten jederzeit löschen, indem du die App deinstallierst. Über Firebase Analytics und Firebase Crashlytics erhobene Daten (sofern du zugestimmt hast) werden von Google für maximal 14 Monate gespeichert und danach automatisch gelöscht. Über das In-App-Feedback-Formular freiwillig gesendetes Feedback wird anonym in Cloud Firestore gespeichert und spätestens nach 24 Monaten gelöscht.
6. Datenlöschung anfordern
So forderst du die Löschung deiner Daten an: Um die über die App erhobenen Analyse- und Absturzdaten (deine pseudonymen Firebase-Analytics- und Crashlytics-Daten) löschen zu lassen, sende eine E-Mail mit dem Betreff „Datenlöschung" an hello@growdy.app. Wir veranlassen die Löschung der entsprechenden Daten.
Welche Daten betroffen sind: die pseudonymen Nutzungs- und Absturzdaten, die von Firebase Analytics und Firebase Crashlytics verarbeitet werden. Diese Daten werden für maximal 14 Monate gespeichert und danach automatisch gelöscht.
In der App erstellte Inhalte (Grows, Pflanzen, Fotos, Notizen) werden ausschließlich lokal auf deinem Gerät gespeichert. Du kannst sie jederzeit direkt in der App löschen oder durch Deinstallation der App vollständig entfernen – sie werden zu keinem Zeitpunkt an uns übermittelt.
Über das In-App-Feedback-Formular gesendetes Feedback wird anonym und ohne Konto-, Geräte- oder Nutzerkennung gespeichert. Wir können einzelne Einsendungen daher keiner Person zuordnen und nicht gezielt löschen (Art. 11 DSGVO). Feedback-Daten werden spätestens nach 24 Monaten gelöscht.
Deine Einwilligung in Firebase Analytics und Crashlytics kannst du jederzeit mit Wirkung für die Zukunft über die App-Einstellungen widerrufen (Menü → Einstellungen → „Anonyme Nutzungsstatistik"); damit wird jede weitere Erhebung gestoppt.
7. Deine Rechte (DSGVO)
Wenn du dich in der Europäischen Union befindest, hast du folgende Rechte bezüglich deiner personenbezogenen Daten:

- Recht auf Berichtigung unrichtiger Daten
- Recht auf Löschung ("Recht auf Vergessenwerden")
- Recht auf Datenübertragbarkeit
- Widerspruchsrecht gegen die Verarbeitung
Da praktisch alle Daten lokal auf deinem Gerät gespeichert sind, kannst du die meisten dieser Rechte direkt über die App oder durch Deinstallation ausüben. 8. Datenschutz von Minderjährigen
Growdy richtet sich nicht an Kinder unter 13 Jahren. Wir erheben wissentlich keine personenbezogenen Daten von Kindern.
9. Änderungen dieser Erklärung
Wir können diese Datenschutzerklärung von Zeit zu Zeit aktualisieren. Über wesentliche Änderungen informieren wir dich über die App. Die weitere Nutzung der App nach Änderungen gilt als Zustimmung zur aktualisierten Erklärung.
